A Wish for Longevity – 2020.07.28
The Rui Cunha Foundation and the Macao Wisdom Humanities Encourage Political Association present “A Wish for Longevity – A Calligraphy Exhibition for the Inheritance of Chinese Medicine”, with original works by Mr. Ung Choi Kun, next Tuesday, 28 July 2020, at the FRC Gallery.
The event comes after the joint exhibition to raise awareness on Macao’s anti-pandemic efforts, promoted by the Cultural Affairs Bureau from July 9 to the 18th, in which Mr. Ung Choi Kun and several other renowned local artists participated with art works dedicated to the theme. This time, Mr. Ung Choi Kun has produced new pieces to honor traditional Chinese medicine and its potential contribution to the rest of the world. There will be 23 original pieces signed and showcased by the artist who is also President of the mentioned Association.
«During the course of the pandemic control, it was noticed that Chinese medicine played an essential role in the search for therapies to help the most critical patients. Chinese experts were able to summarize the pattern and experience toward the cure, by responding to the disease through Chinese traditional medicine», points out Ung Choi Kun in the artistic manifesto that accompanies this exhibition.
“As a gem for the Chinese civilization, traditional medicine is of great significance to all of us today”. Therefore, “it is our responsibility and mission to inherit and perpetuate this unique form of knowledge. The calligraphy exhibition is held to showcase the importance of Chinese medicine towards the epidemic prevention, as well as promoting it to the public for generations to come», is also stated on the artist board of intentions for the event.
The exhibition can be visited from July 28 until August 8, daily from 10am to 1pm and from 2:30pm to 7pm, at the Rui Cunha Foundation.
Entry is free, but subject to limitation due to compliance with the regulatory health measures in force.
