POSTER

The Rui Cunha Foundation opens today, Tuesday, November 26th at 6:30pm, the Annual Arts Showcase “Deeply Personal Journey”, that will display oil paintings and ceramics created by about 20 participants in the process of recovery from the Ka Ho Integrated Services Center of ARTM – Association of Rehabilitation of Dependencies of Macau.

In recent years, the arts have been an essential component in the daily life of the ARTM therapeutic community, through different activities and techniques, with a view to promoting the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing of patients, allowing their growth throughout the process of individual change.

According to ARTM, «recovery is a personal experience, where each one lives it in a unique way. It is not a race, where whoever arrives first wins, but a journey where each step is a victory. It’s an opportunity of connection between us and our deepest self. Recovery is an individual process but there is no recovery without bonding. Relationships and the learning that comes from others’ experience, such as the care and support, enrich the process and reinforce the hope that a better and happier life is possible and achievable».

At its core, «recovery is about courage to develop resilience, to enhance new coping strategies, and to restore a healthier and supportive network that empower each one to function at their best despite their difficulties», states the proposal of intentions.

The showcase, which has been supported by FRC since 2020, is an important moment to celebrate the results achieved by each participant in their path of reintegration into the society. The Association of Rehabilitation of Dependencies of Macau is a local non-profit organization that offers therapeutic programs for recovering from drug and other addictions, such as gambling and alcohol. ARTMalso develops guidance and follow-up services for former addicts, as well as primary prevention services for young people, families, schools, and the community, with a strong commitment to public health and human rights.

The artworks will be on display at FRC Gallery until November 30th, 2024.

Admission is free.
