The Rui Cunha Foundation presents on Saturday, October 12th, 2024 at 5:00 pm, the “Mars Lei Vocal Students Recital”, in the series of Nam Van Sound Waves musical concerts, co-organized by the Macau Vocal Association.

This session of Bel Canto brings another group of students from Beijing Normal University and Hong Kong Baptist University – United International College (UIC), who study under musical vocal teacher Mars Lei, an accomplished pianist, guitarist, choral conductor, arranger, and a baritone classic performer himself.

This time, soprano Dolly Mo (莫子丁) and mezzo-sopranos Winnie Wang (王彦蓉) and Mia Mai (麥芷晴) will perform at FRC Gallery, accompanied by pianists Erin Lee (李颖欣), Moon Lee (李牧宸) and Acacia Wang (王瑞鑫). The program includes pieces for vocal art and excerpts from operas by classical composers Vincenzo Bellini, Antonio Caldara, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Alessandro Scarlatti, Domenico Scarlatti, Giovanni Paisiello, Giovanni Bononcini, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, and Chinese composers Chen Yong (陳勇), Zheng Qiufeng (鄭秋楓) and Liu Qing (劉青).

Dolly Mo (莫子丁) began learning to sing as a soprano at the age of 14. She is now a Bel Canto student of the Music Performance Program at United International College (UIC) in Zhuhai, under vocal instructor Mars Lei.

Also enrolled at UIC is mezzo-soprano Winnie Wang (王彦蓉), who was born in 2005 in Shenzhen, China. She began learning piano at the age of four and continued her studies in Bel Canto under the guidance of Mars Lei.

Mezzo-soprano Mia Mai (麥芷晴) is completing her degree in Vocal Performance at UIC, where she has been supervised by instructor Mars Lei since 2023. She began learning music as a teenagerl and actively participated in choir competitions in high school, winning important awards, including the 1st Prize in a Choir Competition that celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Party in 2021.

The Macau Vocal Association has always aimed to promoting the development of vocal music art in Macau, and achieving the mission of spreading it towards the young people and the local public. The series of recitals and concerts, held in partnership with educational institutions in the territory, intend to provide through music a balanced development of moral, intellectual, aesthetic, physical, and social well-being, for people of all ages in their free time.
