Lighten Up – 2024.10.15 |

The Rui Cunha Foundation opens on Tuesday, October 15th at 4:00 pm, the Multimedia Exhibition “Lighten Up”, promoted by the Hoi Fai Life Education Resource Centre of Caritas Macau, an institution aiming to promote a message of life cherishing, to actively spread positive psychology factors and to improve the resilience of the public through community activities and social education, into building a healthy and happy lifestyle.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has designated September 10th of each year as “World Suicide Prevention Day”. The WSPD 2024 theme was “Changing the Narrative on Suicide”, established by the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) with the purpose of calling for actions to reshape public policies and to mitigate the occurrence of suicide in today’s societies, highlighting opportunities and practices for change.

The WHO project was the groundwork for, in July 2024, the creation of the Hoi Fai Center by Caritas Macau, which is dedicated to organizing various activities and learning programs on the field, through lectures, workshops, meetings, exhibitions and cultural events. This year, one of such activities is the “Lighten Up” Multimedia Exhibition.

«This exhibition features various sections, including an information board, an experience area, a video screening area, a story wall, and a message wall. The information panels present essential details about suicide prevention and mental health, aiming to clarify misconceptions related to suicide and mental illness. Through simulated experiences of depression and hallucinations, and interactive discussions with participants, the exhibition deepens the public’s understanding of mood disorders and suicide, fostering empathy for those affected. Additionally, the message and story walls reinforce positive energy and thoughts, empowering individuals when facing these complex challenges», is argued in the proposal.
