POSTER_jazzThe Rui Cunha Foundation presents on Saturday, May 25th at 9:00pm, the popular monthly Saturday Night Jazz concert with the “Lazy Jones & The Weekend Jazz Group”, two bands that return to perform at the stage of FRC Gallery.

The Lazy Jones is a young female quintet, that branched out from the Macao Youth Jazz Orchestra, one of the important learning projects of professional musicians from the Macao Jazz Promotion Association(MJPA), many of which are teachers of this new generation.

The five young women created a promising group that shows great potential with the selection and interpretation of the repertoire, ranging from the classics of Bossa Nova to the Bebop style, with their characteristic lay back attitude. The famous jazz song “Have You met Miss Jones?” is behind the name of the band that has previously performed with the MJPA at the Gallery, featuring the voice of Diana Piscarreta, the guitar and bass of sisters Nana Chan and Twinkle Chan, and this time the professional drummer Fanfan Cheung.

The second part is dedicated to the Weekend Jazz Group, formed by adult and more experienced MJPA members, including Tony Lei on saxophone, Jerry Jiang on piano, Cathy Chan on bass and Roy Tai on drums. This quartet will perform a series of jazz standards, with different moods and vibes, showing that local artists’ passion for music is still very much alive.

The Macau Jazz Promotion Association (MJPA), co-organizer of Saturday Night Jazz with the Rui Cunha Foundation since 2014, is a local non-profit local arts association, created in 2010. The aim of MJPA is to promote jazz music to Macau’s audience and to provide opportunities for local musicians, thus bringing out the multicultural characteristic of the territory and contributing to multiple projects aimed at the youth.

Admission is free.
