PosterThe Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Sunday, April 28th at 8:00pm, the “Lucas Tong Piano Recital”, a musical event celebrating the 12th Anniversary of the FRC, founded exactly on April 28th, 2012, which will take place in the Grand Hall of the Inspiration Building at the Macau Tourism University (former IFT).

The show is organized by FRC, with the logistical support of Elite – Association for Creativity and Music Culture, and we are pleased to celebrate these 12 years of activity with the promotion of Lucas Tong’s first solo concert in Macau. The young and talented local pianist already has an enviable CV, winning important international awards. In this special event he will perform works from the Romantic period and the 20th century.

The program includes relevant works by classical and contemporary composers, namely both Germans Johann Sebastian Bach and Johannes Brahms, the Hungarian Franz Lizst, the Russian Sergei Prokofiev, the American Louis Moreau Gottschalk, and the Chinese Zhang Zhao.

Lucas Tong is now 15 years old, having started learning piano when he was just 3 years old. His deep passion for music led him to seek dedicated guidance from his parents, teachers, and music professionals. He won awards, attended masterclasses, and participated in national and international competitions: in Macau, Hong Kong, Zhuhai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shanghai, Taiwan, Hungary, Austria, France, United Arab Emirates, Russia, and Japan. He also took part in several musical performances.

In 2019, he was invited to participate in a charity music album and music video, titled “I want …”, and recorded by Hong Kong singer Eason Chan, internationally renowned soprano Renée Fleming, and Chinese pianist Lang Lang. In the music video, Lucas played the role of young Lang Lang and the piano performance was executed by himself. This was a rare opportunity, as Lucas was personally selected by Lang Lang, indicating the talent he already possessed at the time.

Recently, Lucas Tong stood out at the 41st Macau Young Musicians Competitionin 2023, winning the “Cultural Affairs Bureau Prize”, as well as first prize in the “Solo Category” and “Piano Concert Category”.

The event will be held in Cantonese and English.

Admission by invitation only.
