The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Tuesday, March 5th at 6:30pm, the Exhibition Tour “Bridging the Dialogue: 75th Anniversary of O Clarim”, an extension of the commemorative exhibition that was held at the Macau Diocesan Centre in October and November, 2023.

O Clarim newspaper has designed a set of mobile exhibition boards, showcasing the printing history and media history in the territory, as well as some introductory knowledge on the journalistic profession. The aim was to pass the torch to the public and the next generation, preserving its bridging mission of information and formation, and of dialogue between the Church, the faithful, and the society.

2023 marked the 75th anniversary of O Clarim, a Catholic weekly newspaper in Macau. O Clarim is the oldest and still operating Portuguese newspaper in the territory, and is also the only trilingual newspaper in Macau.

To allow the public a better understanding of the history of media development and journalistic industry in Macau, O Clarim will carry out a Tour of the original Exhibition, which first kicks off at the Rui Cunha Foundation Gallery, and then will travel to different local schools and venues.

In addition to the Exhibition, O Clarim will also hold a series of Talks, inviting some speakers to share their knowledge and expertise in the topic. This coming Thursday, March 7th at 6:30pm, is scheduled the first Talk “Photojournalism: The Experience Covering Church Events”, with guest speaker Oswald Vas. The following Thursday, March 14th again at 6:30pm, it will be the Talk “Freedom in the Religious Press”, with speaker José Miguel Encarnação. Both will be moderated by Jasmin Yiu and presented in English.

The Exhibition will be held at FRC Gallery until March 16th, 2024.

Admission is free.
