NAM VAN SOUND WAVES
“Joint Recital with Music Students of MPU”

The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Saturday, November 11th at 5:00pm, a “Joint Recital with Music Students of Macau Polytechnic University”, integrated in the series of musical concerts “Nam Van Sound Waves”, co-organized with the Macau Vocal Association and featuring the students of MPU.

Under the guidance of Macau Polytechnic University’s Music Course professor, Dr. Wang Xi, the selected program for this afternoon will showcase the highly accomplished talent and voices of sopranos YiRong Wang (王藝融) and Changkun Lei (雷嫦坤), mezzo-soprano XiangBing Liu (劉祥冰), and tenor LiangYi Chen (陳梁熠), accompanied by the piano of teacher Ms. May Ho-Tung Poon (潘澔彤老師).

The program for this musical session includes classical pieces for Bel Canto voices by composers Georges Bizet, Vincenzo Bellini, Giovanni Maria Bononcini, Franz Schubert, Domenico Cimarosa, George Handel, Gabriel Fauré, Robert Schumann, Édouard Lalo, and some Chinese compositions.

Bel Canto is considered the maximum expression of human voice. The Italian term was coined in the 18th century and is still today taught in a similar way as in the past. This vocal technique emphasizes the beauty of sound and the technical capacity of the artist, instead of the dramatic expression or romantic emotion.

Admission is free.
