Saturday Night Jazz . MusicArt Special – 2023.07.15
The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Saturday, July 15th, unusually at 5:00pm, the popular monthly Saturday Night Jazz concert, in this edition with “MusicArt Special”, associated with the Joint Exhibition currently on display.
The project intends to be a cross-disciplinary experience between Art and Music, concepts that touch and intersect each other, generating results that can be surprising, somewhere between the seven musical notes and the seven colors of the rainbow.
The Macau Jazz Promotion Association (MJPA), co-organizer of the event since 2014, was invited to participate in this project and create seven musical pieces, «which are categorized by the contrast of light and darkness, and then matched with corresponding rhythms and harmonies». The music that will be played at the concert revolves around «various styles of jazz, from traditional to modern, including swing, latino, and funk, among others, with a diverse yet consistent resonance», according to the members of MJPA.
On the stage of FRC Gallery will be featured Ao Fai’s piano and trumpet, Joviz Lee’s piano, Gregory Wong’s trombone, Roy Tai’s drums, and the famous bass of Mars Lei, President of MJPA. In addition to the 7 original songs created for “MusicArt”, MJPA members will also play improvised music, interacting with the space and the audience, among other surprises that include a performance by the curator Giulio Acconci, a multifaceted artist and local singer.
The visitors may also appreciate the works of art on display, while listening to music online, through accessing QR Codes (Quick Response) that allow complete audiovisual integration, before or after the concert.
Admission is free.
