PosterThe Rui Cunha Foundation presents on Wednesday, March 2nd at 6:30pm, the opening of the Oil Painting Exhibition “33 Macao Leisurely”, that brings together 33 pieces created by 6 artists, currently 5th-year finalists of the course in Oil Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Huaqiao University, Fujian Province, in China.

This collective project aims to «express the humanities and the leisurely scenery of Macao that the painters have experienced during their lives in this tiny city, with an area of 33 square kilometers. This exhibition’s concept – “Macao Leisure” – focuses on the leisurely life in Macao, but also carries the meaning of “Macao Friendship” by its near-phonetic words in Chinese (aomen youqing), which signifies the harmonious society of this city, and the friendship between the painters that has resulted from the common experiences of painting together en plein air these years, braving the wind and rain, or under the blazing sun», according to the creative proposal presented by them.

The 33 artworks, which will be exhibited at FRC Gallery, are signed by the artists Ho Si Man (何思敏); Wong Tan Tong (黃丹東); Tam Kok Chun, Onion (談珏荃); Ng Kuan Hou, Maggie (吳群好); Ho Cheng Wa (何菁華) and Lei Weng Kuong, Christopher (李永光).

«Though having lived in Macao for very long, the painters are still fascinated by this city as it has been fostered by the coexisting history and national cultures of China and Portugal, therefore being enriched with the unique and colorful wide variety of atmospheres. In this exhibition, the painters tried to observe from multiple angles the people, objects, sceneries and events encountered in Macao life, and now reveal their perception of such elements», states the same manifesto.

The oil paintings will be on display until March 12, 2022.
