Macau Zentangle Art Joint Exhibition – 2020.01.07
The Rui Cunha Foundation inaugurates the “ZENTANGLE Art Joint Exhibition” on January 7th, 2020, at 6.30 pm, presenting works from various learning sessions created by certified artists – Vivian Kou, Ron Loo, Velda Chan and Katniss Ao Ieong – with their students.
Zentangle art has originated in the United States as a rising creative style with more and more fans each day around the world. Who has never seen the repetitive figures of plants and other natural forms that pop on blank spaces like kaleidoscopes? Who has also never took the opportunity to color beautiful mandalas, cornucopias, mosaics and butterflies made of black strokes on the paper of mindfulness books?
Learning to draw Zentangle is to let simple lines flow from more or less complex geometric or curvilinear patterns, that expand organically within structures and shapes, allowing authors to achieve a state of almost Zen abstraction. It incorporates relaxation and meditation mechanisms to relieve pressure and daily stress, seeking calm, concentration and even self-awareness.
The technique is easy to learn, as well as fun, by tracing structured patterns that make beautiful images. The exhibition will showcase 16 sets of works done by students of the creative workshops that the four local artists have been promoting across the territory. These are collaborative images, inspired by elements of artistic fusion and telling interesting stories shared by students.
The purpose of the show is to leave the message that art is tangible, not untouchable, and must be experienced by everyone.
Therefore, the collective artists will organize two Zentangle Workshops on January 11th, Saturday, from 3:00 to 4:30 pm and from 5:00 to 6:30 pm, at the FRC Gallery, for anyone interested in learning more about the art and its methods. The sessions will be held in Chinese and admittance is free.
