Ink and Brush Songs of Glory – 2025.09.30
The Rui Cunha Foundation opens today, Tuesday, September 30th at 6:30pm, a Collective Cultural Exhibition under the title “Ink and Brush Songs of Glory – Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japan and the World Anti-Fascist War”, co-organized by the Macau Women’s Calligraphy, Painting and Seal Carving Association. The selection features around 50 themed artworks curated by President Hong San San Rodrigues (洪珊珊).
The pieces on display were created by more than 30 local calligraphers and painters, joining forces to celebrate People’s Republic of China’s major national events that have inspired their artistic interpretations through calligraphy, painting, and seal engraving. These artworks encompass «historical scenes, patriotic poetry, and themes of peace, using the language of traditional art to revisit significant moments of the collective past and convey the belief in peace», Hong San San states.
«The MWCPSA members have always worked hand in hand with the Motherland. In this exhibition, members infuse their profound understanding of history and sincere praise for peace into their creations of excellent traditional Chinese culture, with brush and ink as their vessel and carving knives as their medium. Each work carries memories of the martyrs and deep affection for the Motherland. It is hoped that art will serve as a bridge to unite the strength that safeguards the prosperity of the Motherland and the stability of Macau, writing a new chapter for world peace and development», can be read on the Exhibition’s manifest.
According to the curator’s intention, «each piece in the exhibition is a heartfelt confession of Macau’s female artists: in the powerful strokes lies the unyielding backbone of our mountains and rivers; in the somber colors, the silhouettes of our martyrs’ wielding weapons; in the deep engravings, the noble responsibility of “the rise and fall of a nation is the duty of every citizen”. Through the language of art, we express our understanding of history and our admiration for peace while etching our unwavering original intent of patriotic love for Macau», the artists proclaim.
The exhibition will be displayed until October 11th, 2025.
Admission is free.
