POSTERThe Rui Cunha Foundation opens today, TuesdayApril 15th at 6:30pm, the Drawing Exhibition entitled “Linhas • Sensação” by renowned painter and artist Ung Vai Meng, a leading figure in the Macau arts scene, who kindly joins this month of FRC 13th Anniversary celebrations.

Appointed first Director of the Macao Museum of Art when inaugurated in 1999, and later President of the Macau Cultural Affairs Bureau from 2010 to 2017, Ung Vai Meng is a member of the Macau Fine Arts Association and a founding member of the CAC (Circle of Friends of Culture), as well as currently Visiting Professor and Doctoral Mentor at the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST).

The exhibition features 21 recent works by Ung Vai Meng, including plain-air sketches from Beijing, Macau, Portugal, and Italy; followed by dynamic depictions of dancers captured in the darkness of theaters; and also three pieces specially created for this exhibition, using the human body as a central motif.

Through layered washes, the artist explores a minimalist aesthetic that blends abstraction and figuration, infused with a sense of musical rhythm.

To enhance visitors’ appreciation of the exhibition, the Rui Cunha Fundation will also host a lecture about line drawings and paintings, presented by Ung Vai Meng on the next day, Wednesday, April 16th at 6:30pm at FRC Gallery. The talk will be conducted in Chinese and Portuguese.

“Linhas • Sensação” is organized by Rui Cunha Fundation with the support of Faculty of Humanities and Arts of the Macau University of Science and Technology.

The exhibition will on display until May 5th, 2025.
