POSTER_FBThe Rui Cunha Foundation opens today, Tuesday, November 12th at 6:30pm, the Joint Art Exhibition “The First Moment of Pure Flowers Bloom – Memories of Bay Area Cities”, by artists He Honglang (何泓朗), Li Zhuchao (李朱超) and Fu Rao (傅饒), co-organized by the Macau Youth Art Association.

The project includes 26 oil paintings and printmakings created by the three young artists, currently master’s students at the Macau Polytechnic University, who «express the unique urban style and cultural atmosphere of the Greater Bay Area through pious painting». As the note of intent states, «this theme symbolizes the artists’ search for life and beauty, as well as the exploration of a new existence and hope. While studying in Macau, participating artists experience the humanistic spirit of the mainland and the Greater Bay Area with a “pure heart”, and generate creative motivation and strength».

In the exhibition, the works are not only an exploration of renewal and hope, but also an affectionate look back at the passage of time and the change of the city. «Through these works of art, the audience will experience the pure moment of the beginning of life, and feel the warmth and transitoriness of the city’s memory. Driven by the power of “Pure Heart”, the artists cross the boundaries of regions and cultures to present us with cities full of stories». For example, «artist He Honglang focuses on the coexistence of old and new buildings in the Bay Area city and the integration of Chinese and Western architecture; Li Zhuchao focuses on the current situation of Macau’s fishing industry; and Fu Rao focuses on the moving scenes of local daily life».

Also according to the manifesto, «the “Cities of Greater Bahia” are no longer just physical spaces, but have become carriers of urban memory and emotion. Each work is like a small piece of a puzzle, when together they form a magnificent image of the city, of memory, of time».

The works will be on display until November 23rd, 2024.

Admission is free.
