The Rui Cunha Foundation opens on Tuesday, July 23rd at 6:30 pm, the Figure Painting Exhibition titled “She . Realm” by Zheng Xiaojun (鄭曉君), a renowned artist who is a PhD Associate Professor at the School of Journalism and Communication of Jinan University and Director of the Artificial Intelligence and New Media Art Research Center of Jinan University, in Guangzhou, China.

Co-organized by FRC and the Macau Youth Art Association (澳門青年美術協會), the project includes 35 paintings of women and children, in Zheng Xiaojun’s particular style where «she uses her sensibility and linear thinking to explore the essence and meaning of life”, according to the exhibition manifest.

«Art is a magnificent realm intertwined with reality and fantasy. Zheng Xiaojun‘s works serve as a mirror to her inner world, capturing moments of life and reflecting her pure perspectives and thoughts. In this increasingly distant and anxious era, (…) her works are a lyrical exploration of artistic language, a hymn to life and an insight into human nature».

«The characters she depicts transcend the clamor of the work and embody not only the artist’s delicate perception of individual life, but also a deep gaze and tender understanding (…), recreating a world of goodness and beauty, bringing rare peace and relaxation to viewers», the exhibition proposal also states.

Zheng Xiaojun is a member of the Macau Artist Society (澳門美術協會). Her works have been selected into more than 30 important exhibitions and competitions, including the Beijing International Biennale, the National Chinese Painting Exhibition, the World Expo Art Exhibition, and the Italian Art Design Exhibition. She was sent by a state project to cultivate artistic talents at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, Italy, having also carried out several cultural exchanges in Taiwan, South Africa and Japan. Her works were collected by professional entities and academic institutions, such as the National Art Museum of China, the Chinese Artists Association, Rhodes University (South Africa), the University of Florence (Italy), and Chiba University (Japan). She is the author of “Twenty Mirrors Looking at the World – Interpretation of Contemporary Art Forms and Concepts” and other monographs, having published reviews in important national and provincial magazines.

The artworks will be on display until August 3rd, 2024.
