Facing the Sea – 2024.02.20
The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Tuesday, February 20th at 6:30 pm, the Solo Exhibition “Facing the Sea”, by artist Ada Zhang, a talented painter from Mainland China that moved to Macau almost a decade ago, to depict the many hidden beauties of local urban landscape, everyday lifestyle, and diverse people, through her immigrant eyes and unique style of impressionism.
In this exhibition, the artist will showcase 39 paintings in watercolor, oil, and acrylic, a collection of images that confirm her talent for observing and capturing the essence of what surrounds her, and composing meaningful pieces. Ada Zhang again focuses her wonder and vocation on sketching the landscapes and landmarks of Macau, while tirelessly detailing the atmosphere of the small city with her brushstrokes.
This is Ada Zhang’s second exhibition at FRC, after “Home’s Where The Heart Is” was featured in 2022 on the Gallery walls. The artist now returns with new artworks and renewed energy, justifying the title of the exhibition with her enthusiasm ready to receive inspiration and ideas with the coming waves and the sea breeze, as she figuratively puts it.
Ada Zhang is from the province of Sichuan, on the western Mainland China, and specializes in watercolor, oil painting, drawing and sketching. She is Director of the Macau Contemporary Watercolor Artists Association, and a member of the Macao Arts Association, the Macao Youth Art Association, the Macao Painting Association, and the «Yü Ün» Chinese Calligraphers and Painters Association of Macau. Her works won the Cheng Yang Bazhai Drawing Competition Award of Excellence in 2021 and were selected for the 2021 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Watercolor Biennale.
The paintings will be on display until March 2nd, 2024.
