Poster_new2021The Rui Cunha Foundation presents next Saturday, May 15 at 5:00 pm, a “Joint Recital of Bel Canto & Piano”, integrated in the series of musical concerts “Nam Van Sound Waves”, co-organized by the Macau Vocal Association, featuring the students of Macau Polytechnic Institute Choir.

The program, under the responsibility of the Macau Polytechnic Institute’s voice teacher Dr. Xi Wang, has selected for this afternoon session the voices of sopranos Yirong Wang, Yuan Tao, Orianna Shen, Xuan Kang and Cheong Pou Ian, and tenors Liangyi Chen and Yuzhuo Zhang, accompanied by the piano by Lao In Teng, Yating Shi, Ho-Tung Poon, Qiqi Wang and To Ching Yin.

Also noteworthy is the presence of the oboe player Jiahui Lu in one of the themes of “Le nozze di Figaro”, by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and a piano solo by Xilyu Feng who will interpret a scherzo by Fryderyk Chopin. This concert also features musical pieces by composers Giacomo Puccini, Richard Strauss, Henri Duparc, Claude Debussy, Johannes Brahms, Vincenzo Bellini, Stefano Donaudy, Francis Poulenc, Giuseppe Verdi and Hugo Wolf.

Bel Canto is considered the maximum expression of the human voice. The Italian term was coined in the 18th century. This vocal technique emphasizes the beauty of sound and the technical capacity of the artist, instead of the dramatic expression or romantic emotion, which is still taught today in a similar way as in the past.

Admittance is free.

Don’t miss it!
