The Rui Cunha Foundation Choir has made its presence at the 4th edition of Cantata Macau, which took place from 8 to 10 November 2019, delivering two special performances under the baton of conductor Barrie Briones. This year’s event gathered seventeen choir groups from seven countries and territories, namely the People’s Republic of China, the Philippines, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau.

This is the third consecutive year that the FRC group has been part of the MSAR International Choir Festival, representing the territory. The group, established in 2016, has been consolidating its repertoire, bringing together about thirty amateur voices, both female and male, which explore musical styles of diverse cultural influence, from religious and sacred inspiration to American, European and Asian classics from mid-twentieth century.

The focus of Rui Cunha Foundation and the Choir has been to bring together voices and wills in a project of community sharing, helping to spread the sensitivity and joy of singing as a component of personal and artistic development. Throughout the year, the choral activity also aims to bring music to the homes of the elderly, charities, associations and prisons, seeking to promote through sound and harmony a message of social integration.

The Cantata Macau International Choir Festival has been sponsored from the beginning by the Diocese of Macao and issupported by the Rui Cunha Foundation, the Macau Foundation, the Cultural Affairs Bureau and the Tourism Bureau.
