From Data to Action – 2026.05.27
The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Wednesday, May 27th at 6:30pm, a new session of the Law & Tech Talks, titled “From Data to Action: Building AI-Driven Business Models in the GBA, China”, inserted in the new Data Protection and Governance series, under the recent partnership between FRC and USJ, in particular Department of Law and Public Policy of the Faculty of Business and Law at University of Saint Joseph, in Macau.
«Data is the new raw material of business, but data alone is not enough. Managers need to turn it into value. Companies are using Artificial Intelligence to build data-driven business models along a clear path: from raw data to insights to action», the USJ proposal states.
Three levels of analysis are highlighted. «First is Data-as-a-Service (DaaS), where companies access or share unprocessed data. Second is Information-as-a-Service (InfoaaS), which provides analyzed reports and dashboards. Third is Agent-as-a-Service (AaaS), which relies on AI agents that decide, automate, and execute».
The discussion will also explore three core issues relevant for future managers. «First, how GBA firms use data and AI to innovate their business models and create value. Second, how data providers, facilitators, and users interact with one another. Third, what ethical, regulatory, and compliance challenges firms face during data processing, with special attention to the GBA and Macaocontext».
Coordinated by Ansoumane Douty Diakité, Associate Professor and Head of theDepartment of Law and Public Policy at the Faculty of Management and Law(USJ), these talk series aim to bring together prominent scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to present their perspectives on emerging issues pertaining to data privacy, protection, and governance across different jurisdictions.
The guest speakers for this debate are Ted Choi, Director & Vice Chairman of Public Affairs at the Macao Computer Society; Terence Lee, President of Sustaincia, Macau; and Daniel Filipe Farinha, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of USJ. The moderator will be Alessandro Lampo, Professor & Head of the Department of Business Studies at the Faculty of Business and Law of University of Saint Joseph – Macau (USJ).
