The Journey of a Data Protection Officer – 2026.03.20
The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Friday, March 20th at 6:30pm, a new session of the Law & Tech Talks, titled “The Journey of a Data Protection Officer”, inserted in the new Data Protection and Governance series, under the recent partnership between FRC and USJ, in particular Department of Law and Public Policy of the Faculty of Business and Law at University of Saint Joseph, in Macau.
«A Data Protection Officer (DPO) has emerged as a pivotal figure in the modern organization. This talk explores the dynamic journey of the DPO, focusing on their role and responsibilities, the challenges they face, and solutions to improve the data protection compliance system in the context of the growing use of artificial intelligence», according to the organizers’ statement.
The guest speakers for this debate are Chandy Ye, Chair of the IAPP KnowledgeNet Hong Kong Chapter, and dual-qualified lawyer in PRC and Hong Kong SAR; Daniela Guerreiro, Associate Lawyer at MdME, a dual-qualified lawyer in Portugal and Macau SAR, and a CIPP/CN: Certified Information Privacy Professional for China; and Filipa Almeida Santos, Lawyer and Regional DPO at JNV – Lawyers and Notaries, and also a CIPP/E and CIPP/A: Certified Information Privacy Professional for Europe and Asia.
The moderator will be Graça Saraiva, lawyer and founder of MGS Consultancy Ltd. (HK), a company specializing in AI, Data Protection and Cybersecurity, and also a CIPP/E: Certified Information Privacy Professional for Europe.
Coordinated by Ansoumane Douty Diakité, Associate Professor and Head of theDepartment of Law and Public Policy at the Faculty of Management and Law(USJ), these talk series aim to bring together prominent scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to present their perspectives on emerging issues pertaining to data privacy, protection, and governance across different jurisdictions.
The session will be held in English.
