AI and Data Privacy – 2025.11.19
The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Wednesday, November 19th at 6:30pm, a conference on “Law & Tech Talks: AI and Data Privacy – Challenges and Prospects”, inserted in the new Data Protection and Governance series, under the active partnership between FRC and USJ, in this case with the Department of Law and Public Policy of the Faculty of Management and Law at University of Saint Joseph, in Macau.
«In this era of rapid digital transformation, understanding how personal information is collected, used, safeguarded, and transferred is of high importance, both for private and public sector organizations», the USJ proposal reveals. This first talk in the series aims to explore the challenges and prospects that arise at the intersection between Artificial Intelligence and Data Privacy.
Coordinated by Ansoumane Douty Diakité, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Law and Public Policy at the Faculty of Management and Law (USJ), this talk series hosted by the University of Saint Joseph and the Rui Cunha Foundation, will bring together prominent scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to present their perspectives on emerging issues pertaining to data privacy, protection, and governance across different jurisdictions.
The guest speakers for this debate are Sara Migliorini, Assistant Professor of Global Legal Studies at the Faculty of Law of the University of Macau; Graça Saraiva, Lawyer and Founder of MGS Consultancy Ltd. (HK), a company specializing in AI, Data Protection, and Cybersecurity; and Edidiong Mbong (via Zoom), Engineer and Founder of SolarRock Technologies and TripleGold Dynasty, companies that operate in the areas of Machine Learning and AI Innovation.
The moderator will be Prof. Ansoumane Diakité, who holds a PhD in Government Studies from USJ and a Master’s degree in European, International, and Comparative Law from the University of Macau, focusing his research on international investment arbitration. His undergraduate studies were completed at the Sorbonne-affiliated Institut de Droit des Affaires Internationales (IDAI) in Cairo, between 2002 and 2006. Beyond his academic degrees, he has pursued extensive professional training, earning certificates and diplomas in International Law, Arbitration, Intellectual Property, Sustainable Development, and Management. These include a Graduate Studies Program certificate from the UNOffice in Geneva (2007), diplomas in International Commercial Arbitration and Trade and Investment Law (2008, 2020), and a certificate in International Private Law from the Hague Academy.
The talk will be held in English.
