Honor and Distinction – 2025.11.11
The Rui Cunha Foundation and the Macau Youth Associationopen today, Tuesday, November 11th at 6:30pm, a Macau Sports Talent Exhibition titled “Honor and Distinction – Memories of Macau Sport and Macanese Glory”, an initiative organized by AJM and sponsored by the Macau Foundation to bring to surface the achievements of various figures and athletes in local sports.
The project aims to highlight the legacy of Macanese sports and the remembrance of some of its athletes, combining the spirit of achievement and the values of respect, integrity and honor, currently in prominence with the launching of the 15th edition of the National Games of the People’s Republic of China in 2025, which is taking place from November 9th to 21st in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau; as well as with the 72nd edition of the Macau Grand Prix, which will start from November 13th to 16th in the Macau SAR.
The various sports here on display represent the development of each modality in the territory and the authorities’ commitment to providing leisure activities for local youth. The practice of physical activities and the promotion of well-beingamong the school-age population are embodied by «field hockey and roller hockey, karate, badminton and squash, or the Macau Grand Prix», and broadly demonstrated through «equipment, helmets, hockey sticks, gloves, belts, medals, and trophies, kindly provided by various athletes», reveals the exhibition manifest.
In addition to showcasing achievements, the exhibition also features old photographs of Manuel Silvério, former president of the Sports Bureau (ID), the family of José Luís Sales Marques (portraying his father Fernando Aníbal Marques in field hockey), and José Giga with photographs of the Macau Grand Prix and the Dragon Boat, who is also a member of the AJM board.
Paula Carion, Rodolfo Ávila, Américo de Jesus, Iuri Capelo, João Ramos, Alexandre Jorge, Armando Amante, and José Basto da Silva are some of the names who participated and contributed to the exhibition. The project had also the prompt collaboration of the Macau Skating Association, the Portuguese School of Macau, the International Institute of Macau and Retro Garage.
The pieces will be on display until November 22nd, 2025.
