Telling China’s Story – 2024.09.25
The Rui Cunha Foundation opens on Wednesday, September 25th, the Calligraphy Exhibition of Inspirational Words from Our Proud Olympic Athletes, entitled “Telling China’s Story”, by Ung Choi Kun, President of the Macao Wisdom Humanities Encourage Political Association, and Member of the Legislative Assembly of Macau.
The renowned master calligrapher Ung Choi Kun created more than 30 pieces of calligraphy for this exhibition, alluding to the theme of China’s victorious participation in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, with a total of 91 conquered medals. The feeling of pride with the success of the Chinese athletes also fits in with the spirit of the upcoming 75th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China celebrations, to be held on October 1st.
According to Master Ung Choi Kun, “over the past 75 years, through trials and tribulations, China has risenwith astonishing speed in the East, crafting an epic journey. In this context, we have planned a Calligraphy Exhibition of motivational expressions from our Olympic Athletes with the aim of showcasing the outstanding demeanor of Chinese sports heroes, through the perfect blend of art and sports, promoting patriotism and inspiring all people to strive for the great rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation», states the intent manifest.
«Sports is a universal language that transcends borders, races and cultures. (…) The 2024 Paris Olympics was once again a stage where Chinese athletes showcased China’s strength, speed, and spirit to the world. (…) In this calligraphy exhibition, we have carefully selected inspirational quotes from athletes who achieved outstanding results at the Paris Olympics, engraved them on paper through the traditional art of calligraphy, allowing every viewer to feel the inner strength and persistence of their example».
On display at FRC Gallery will also be the original torch from 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, carried by Ung Choi Kun while the flame of hope made its way through the streets of Macau, one of the many chosen cities on the way to the Chinese capital.
The exhibition will be held until October 12th, 2024.
