POSTER_jazz-01The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, SaturdayJune 22nd at 9:00pm, the popular monthly Saturday Night Jazz concert, in this edition with “Macau Youth Jazz Orchestra & Fanfantasy”, two bands to perform at the stage of FRC Gallery, one returning and the other for its first show.

The Macau Youth Jazz Orchestra (MYJO), under Macau Jazz Promotion Association (MJPA), was established in 2020. It consists of local primary and secondary school students and is divided into several groups. The main group, conducted by Gregory Wong, is in the form of a little Big Band, which consists of a rhythm section plus six brass players. This very group has performed in Macau Cultural Centre, Dom Pedro V Theatre and HUSH Kids! since 2021. For this very performance, the band will perform some big band jazz repertoire.

Fanfantasy is a group of young adult players instructed by Fanfan Cheung from MJPA. The group consists of guitarist Sang, pianist Kenny, bassist Joviz and drummer Fai. The group will perform a series of fun and energetic tunes in various styles.

The Macau Jazz Promotion Association (MJPA), co-organizer of Saturday Night Jazz with the Rui Cunha Foundation since 2014, is a local non-profit local arts association, created in 2010. The aim of MJPA is to promote jazz music to Macau’s audience and to provide opportunities for local musicians, thus bringing out the multicultural characteristic of the territory and contributing to multiple projects aimed at the youth.
