Nam Van Sound Waves – 2026.03.14
The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Saturday, March 14th at 5:00pm, a session titled “Mars Lei Vocal Students Recital”, as part of the musical concert series Nam Van Sound Waves, co-organized by the Macau Vocal Association. This Bel Canto session brings together a group of three students from Beijing Normal University – Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU), in Zhuhai, who study under musical vocal teacher Mars Lei, an accomplished pianist, guitarist, choral conductor, arranger, and a baritone classic performer himself.
This time, mezzo-sopranos Winnie Wang (王彦蓉) and Mia Mai (麥芷晴), and soprano Dolly Mo (莫子丁) will be performing on stage, accompanied by pianists Moon Li (李牧宸), Acacia Wang (王瑞鑫), and Erin Lee (李颖欣), respectively. The program includes pieces for vocal art and excerpts from operas by classical composers Franz Schubert, Gabriel Fauré, Johann Strauss, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Gaetano Donizetti, Franz Lehár, Hugo Wolf, Johannes Brahms, Georges Bizet, Francesco Paolo Tosti, and Ludwig van Beethoven, ending with three duets by Robert Schumann.
Winnie Wang (Wang Yanrong) was born in May 2005 in Shenzhen, China. He began his musical journey with the piano at the age of four and expanded his repertoire to include classical vocal music at sixteen. Currently, Winnie is a third-year undergraduate student in Musical Performance at Beijing-Hong Kong Baptist Normal University (BNBU), where she studies Vocal Music under the guidance of Professor Mars Lei.
Mia Mai (Mai Zhiqing) began her journey in Bel Canto at the age of 15. Currently, she is a third-year student of Musical Performance at BNBU, majoring in Vocal Music, also under the guidance of Professor Mars Lei. She began to learn Vocal Music in high school and actively participated in regional chorus competitions and awards. She won first prize in the chorus competition celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the Party in 2021.
Dolly Mo (Mo Ziding) began her journey in Vocal Music at the age of 14. Currently, she is honing her talent as a singing student at the prestigious Beijing Normal University Music School – Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU), also under the expert guidance of Professor Mars Lei, while developing her vocal art and technique.
The Macau Vocal Association, founded in 2010, aims to promote the development of the art of vocal music in Macau – which includes opera, classical bel canto, and choral singing –, fulfilling the mission of disseminating it among young peopleand the general public. The series of recitals and concerts held in partnership with schools and community institutions in the territory intend to provide, through music, a space for well-being and moral, intellectual, aesthetic, physical and social balance, for people of all ages in their free time.
