Law & Tech Talks – 2026.01.14
The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Wednesday, January 14th at 6:30pm, a new session of the Law & Tech Talks, titled “Harmonization of Data Protection Standards: Trends and Challenges”, inserted in the new Data Protection and Governance series, under the recent partnership between FRC and the Department of Law and Public Policy of the Faculty of Business and Law at University of Saint Joseph, in Macau.
«In a globalized world characterized by constant cross-border data flows, harmonized data protection standards are a promising path for reducing transaction costs and easing compliance. This session gathers a distinctive group of guest speakers to examine existing experiences and key challenges in the harmonization of data protection standards», the USJ proposal states.
Coordinated by Ansoumane Douty Diakité, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Law and Public Policy at the Faculty of Business and Law (USJ), these talk series aim to bring together prominent scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to present their perspectives on emerging issues pertaining to data privacy, protection, and governance across different jurisdictions.
The guest speakers for this debate are Prof. Ansoumane Diakité, from University of Saint Joseph; Mr. José Lupi, Lawyer and Managing Partner at Lupi & Associates in Macau; and Mr. Igor Gonçalves, LL.M., Lawyer and Partner at APSV Advogados from Brazil. The moderator will be Prof. Ângelo Patrício Rafael, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Business and Law of the University of Saint Joseph – Macau (USJ).
The talk will be held in English.
