Poster_14.06.25The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, Saturday, June 14th at 5:00pm, a session titled “A Choral Celebration”, as part of the musical concert series Nam Van Sound Waves, co-organized by the Macau Vocal Association. This afternoon’s edition will bring three choral groups to the Gallery stage: the school Choir of Diocesan College of St. Joseph 6 (CDSJ6), the WX.Free Choir and the reborn Macau Vocal Association Choir.

Since the 2021 academic year, the Macau Vocal Association has partnered with Colégio Diocesano de São José 6 to train the school choir. This year, after months of training, a new group of students will perform a diverse selection of songs, including Italian pieces, classical arrangements, and some other styles, under the baton of teacher and conductor Mars Lei (李兆康).

The WX.Free Choir, founded in February 2025 by Dr. Wang Xiao (王瀟博士) under the Macau International Association of Music Art, is a musical group with around 20 senior members that «embrace the theme of gratitude and dreams. Through their singing, they convey the wisdom of experience, the meaning of life, and the true, good and beautiful aspects of humanity”, according to the organization, making its public debut here.

Finally, the Macau Vocal Association Choir was rebuilt in April 2025 and is also directed by Maestro Mars Lei (李兆康), President of MVA. The vocal group prepared some classical works and contemporary Chinese songs for this session, bringing new energy to the choirs in the territory.

The Macau Vocal Association, founded in 2010, aims to promote the development of the art of vocal music in Macau – which includes opera, classical bel canto, and choral singing –, fulfilling the mission of disseminating it among young peopleand the general public. The series of recitals and concerts held in partnership with schools and community institutions in the territory intend to provide, through music, a space for well-being and moral, intellectual, aesthetic, physical and social balance, for people of all ages in their free time.
