The Rui Cunha Foundation and the Halftone Association present today, Tuesday, November 19th at 6:30pm, the latest edition of “Halftone Meet #10”magazine with the work of members Jane Xu, Sara Augusto, Carmen Cerejo, Nuno Calçada Bastos, Cassia Schutt and Hosoe Eikoh, to whom a posthumous tribute is paid. The session will be presented by architect João Palla and will feature the participation of some members included in this issue.

The new edition will reveal the art of these six photographers, who cover a photographic spectrum from documentary photography to artistic expression, in color or black and white, and «whose works challenge predictable narratives, evoke deep emotional responses, and explore the complexities of the human experience», according to the introductory text of the publication.

«Reaching the 10th issue of our magazine marks a significant milestone in our journey over the past three years. This achievement not only demonstrates our resilience in a challenging publishing landscape but also reflects our commitment to fostering creativity and dialogue through the art of photography». And the collective creators add, «we have built a space where artists can explore and express the complexities of the human experience, fostering a sense of belonging and shared understanding. This milestone invites us to reflect on the themes we have showcased and the connections we have nurtured. Looking back, we recognize how these narratives resonate with our ongoing commitment to social discourse and cultural exploration».

The tribute to Hosoe Eikoh, recently deceased, recalls his «masterful photography [that] has left an indelible mark on the art world. Eikoh’s ability to intertwine light and shadow with profound emotional depth invites viewers to engage with the human condition in a way that resonates across cultural boundaries. His work serves as a poignant reminder of the narratives woven through each of the featured projects, reinforcing the idea that, at their core, all photography seeks to tell a story».

The session will be held in English.

The magazine will be for sale at FRC during the event.

Admission is free.
