POSTER_FBThe Halftone Association presents on TuesdayJuly 16th at 6:30pm, in Rui Cunha Foundation’s Gallery, the edition #09 of its Magazine with the artistic works of members André Ritchie, Cecília Ho, Mide Plácido, José Luís Sales Marques, Joana de Freitas and Haozheng Wu. The session will be presented by photographer Alan Ieon who will be joined by some members.

The new edition, which is, like the previous ones, sponsored by Banco Nacional Ultramarino (BNU), will reveal the works of these six photographers, who cover a photographic spectrum from documentary photography to artistic expression, in color or black and white. «Through the diverse and rich tapestry of photographic works presented in this issue #09, we can explore how photography embodies the essence of different art forms and cultural narratives. Aaron Scharf, in Art and Photography, states that ‘photography has always played a role in expanding and enriching the language of art’», says the editorial team formed by Alan Ieon, João Palla Martins, Nuno Tristão, Sara Augusto and Stephan Nunes, in the introductory text of the publication.

The multiplicity of perspectives and approaches to photographic art is what has characterized the members of Halftone since its creation in 2021. This publication is further proof that there are no borders in photography, as long as each image is ‘written with light’. «This perspective reinforces the idea that photographers, by expanding and layering these symbolic languages, have the opportunity to transcend immediate visual representation and imbue their projects with high levels of cultural resonance and social meaning. Differences in technological approaches, themes and aesthetic styles further highlight photography’s ability to reflect the multifaceted nature of the human experience, solidifying its status as a dynamic and profound art form», the editorial team further states.

Halftone is a non-profit cultural association, based in the Macao SAR, which aims to promote contemporary photography in all its aspects. It is an inclusive and comprehensive association, and is open to all those interested in photography as an artistic and/or documentary expression, regardless of their experience or practice. Therefore, it proposes to promote the photographic work of its members, as well as organize exhibitions, publish a magazine, books and monographs, organize debates and develop pedagogical and educational projects.

The Magazine will be for sale at FRC during the event.
