Start & Finish – 2026.11.10
The Rui Cunha Foundation opens on Tuesday, November 10th, at 6:30pm, the exhibition “Start & Finish” by photographer António Duarte Mil-Homens.
As every race is about the start and the finishing, every competitor trying to get to the top spot, the Macau Grand Prix and its ever-rich calendar are no exception. Year after year (for the first time in 1999), I continued to cover this iconic event, trying to keep up with the action on the track. These are some of those images. I hope everyone can feel the speed, the concentration of the drivers and the will to win in them.
António Duarte Mil-Homens was born in Lisbon on October 9, 1949. Essentially self-taught, he began photographing regularly on April 25, 1974—the day he held his first camera in his hands.
In addition to completing the professional course offered by the Portuguese Association of Photographic Art, he attended various digital photography workshops. Arguably the Portuguese photographer with the most diverse experience, his career spans over 52 years and ranges from photojournalism and news reporting to scientific photography. His work covers a wide array of fields, including teaching and research, publishing, advertising, events and spectacles, sports, food, cosmetics, fashion, textiles, automotive, telecommunications, glass and crystal, and corporate photography…from studio work to aerial photography.
His portfolio includes 28 solo exhibitions and participation in 37 group photography and art shows. He has won awards in various competitions (though he stopped entering them long ago) and has served on the juries of others.
Since 1989, he has organized and taught 52 photography courses, in addition to numerous workshops.
His work has been published in dozens of books.
Writing—primarily poetry—is another of his pursuits; he has published three books to date.
Painting entered his life in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic; he has since held two exhibitions, in 2020 and 2022, both in Macau.
Admission is free.
Don’t miss it!
