PosterThe Rui Cunha Foundation will host Friday, October 16th at 6:30pm, a Session of “The Brazilian Sound – Jandira Silva and Ricardo Vogt”.
Jandira Silva
Since 2015 living in Macau, One of London’s hidden musical treasures, Brazilian singer, Jandira Silva, released her superb debut album, Festa De Um Sonho Bom in 2012! A passionate exponent of her country’s rhythmic, beautiful music, Silva draws on the classic sounds of ‘MPB’ (Música Popular Brasileira) as well as her love of jazz to create something fresh, beautiful and exciting. Born in Rio de Janeiro, Silva came to Lisbon in 2000, was the resident singer at Lisbon’s Casino do Estoril, as well as appearing at the local jazz clubs and on Portuguese TV. She moved to London in 2007 quickly becoming a key part of the city’s thriving Latin/Brazilian scene and her debut album, featuring seductive interpretations of Brazilian classics as well as her own enchanting originals, is set to confirm her as one of the music’s fastest rising stars. Originally inspired by the likes of Elis Regina, Leny Andrade, Tom Jobim and Joyce, Jandira was exposed to the great voices of American jazz when she moved to Europe, falling under the spell of Kurt Elling, Dianne Reeves, Madeleine Peyroux. It is this jazz tinge that gives her soulful, enthralling music a unique edge.
