Organized by the Macao Wisdom‑Humanity Progressive Association, co‑organized by the Greater Bay Area Pottery Collection and Exchange Association and the Rui Cunha Foundation, the *“Great Health · Traditional Chinese Medicine Wellness – Ten Renowned Physicians Pottery‑Sculpture and Calligraphy Exhibition” * will be hosted at the Rui Cunha Foundation Gallery in Macao.

In his speech, Ung Choi Kun, President of the Macao Wisdom‑Humanity Progressive Association, pointed out that Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is a treasure of Chinese civilization. China’s 15th Five‑Year Plan calls for accelerated progress in building a Healthy China, stressing the promotion of TCM culture and advancing TCM onto the global stage. As a hub for Sino‑Western cultural exchange, Macao bears a remarkable legacy: Sun Yat‑sen once practiced medicine and provided free medical consultations here over a century ago, setting a fine example of mutual learning between Chinese and Western medicine. To this day, TCM is widely trusted and adopted across Macao society, making the city a key pillar for TCM’s global outreach.

Ung Choi Kun explained that the core TCM philosophy of “treating disease before its onset” emphasizes wellness preservation, advocating moderate diet and living in harmony with seasonal rhythms. Guided by the overarching theme of **“Tao, Vessel, Art and Application” **, the exhibition integrates traditional arts including pottery‑sculpture and calligraphy. Pottery sculptures embody the spirit of medical practitioners; calligraphic works convey wellness principles; and herbal motifs illustrate the unity of medicine and food. This multi‑faceted presentation brings TCM culture vividly to life.

It is hoped that the exhibition will contribute to the national Healthy China strategy and align with Macao’s policies for developing the great‑health industry. It will also popularize TCM culture so that local residents and international visitors can understand, learn and apply TCM knowledge. The philosophy of preventive healthcare can thereby reach every household, opening broader global horizons for Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Ung Choi Kun paid special tribute and expressed gratitude to institutions that have made outstanding contributions to great‑health and TCM development, namely the Santa Casa da Misericordia, Kiang Wu Hospital, Tong Sin Tong, Workers’ Medical Clinic, Macao Federation of Neighborhood Associations, General Association of Returned Overseas Chinese and the People’s Medical Clinic. He also acknowledged higher‑education establishments nurturing numerous medical professionals: Kiang Wu Nursing College, University of Macau, Macao University of Science and Technology, City University of Macau and Macao Polytechnic University. In addition, he saluted all medical practitioners who uphold the noble ethos of “Great Physicians Sincerely Compassionate” and dedicate themselves to caring for the public.

Nearly one‑hundred pottery‑sculpture and calligraphy pieces will be on display. The exhibition runs from **8 September to 19 September 2026**.
