The exhibition “Radiant Blue: Hu Jiawen Solo Exhibition” will be held at the Rui Cunha Foundation from October 28th to November 8th. The exhibition is co-organised by the Rui Cunha Foundation, the Macau Youth Art Association, and the Macau Artist Society, and curated by renowned curator Mr. Chang Kuok Meng. The opening ceremony of the exhibition is set to take place on October 28th, at 18:30.

Centered around the theme “Radiant Blue”, the exhibition showcases Hu Jiawen’s innovative explorations, integrating traditional Gongbi painting with experimental ink painting, blue printmaking, and burnt foil techniques. In the preface, Curator Chang Kuok Meng notes that Hu Jiawen’s works are rooted in dedicate Gongbi lines, creating scenes that merge the classics with contemporary context. Through cracks and glimmers from the burnt foil, these works reveal deep reflections on time, memory, and existence.

She mentioned that this exhibition marks her effort to step out of her comfort zone and move beyond the label of ‘Gongbi Figure Painting’. By utilising various mediums, including ink wash, blue printing, and foil burning, she seeks to convey the emotions and status of women in both virtual and real spaces. She hopes that audiences will appreciate the beauty that arises from imperfection and transformation.
