Saturday Night Jazz – 2026.06.27
The Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, June 27th at 9:00pm, the popular monthly Saturday Night Jazz concert, this edition showcasing “Team 4 + MYJO”, two groups performing new material on the FRC Gallery stage.
The first half will feature the Macau Youth Jazz Orchestra (MYJO), established in 2020 under the tutelage and coaching of the Macau Jazz Promotion Association(MJPA). It consists of local primary and secondary school students and is divided into several groups. The main group, instructed by saxophonist Gregory Wong, is in the form of a little Big Band, which entails a rhythm section plus four brass players. This very group has performed in Macau Cultural Centre, Dom Pedro V Theatre, HUSH Kids!, and FRC. For this performance, the players will perform some Big Band jazz repertoire.
The second part is dedicated to Team 4, an adult quartet newly formed in 2026. Lead by Tim (drums), Bernice (cello), Rex (Piano) and Cathy (bass), this new formation debuts on the stage of FRC Gallery with a performance composed of jazz classics, also featuring a special guest.
The Macau Jazz Promotion Association (MJPA), co-organizer of Saturday Night Jazz with Rui Cunha Foundation since 2014, is a local non-profit local arts association, created in 2010. The aim of MJPA is to promote jazz music to Macau’s audience and to provide opportunities for local musicians, thus bringing out the multicultural characteristic of the territory and contributing to multiple projects aimed at the youth.
