POSTER_jazzThe Rui Cunha Foundation presents today, May 23rd at 9:00pm, the popular monthly Saturday Night Jazz concert, this edition showcasing  “The Singing Lillian + The Playing Jones”, two groups performing new material on the FRC Gallery stage.

On the first half will be featured the debut of singer Lillian Li, a second-year jazz vocal performance student at Beijing Normal University – Hong Kong Baptist University (BNBU) in Zhuhai, under the guidance of experienced musician and professor Mars Lei, also President of the Macau Jazz Promotion Association(MJPA). The vocalist will present a series of jazz classics and will be accompanied by the members of MJPA‘s resident experienced band.

The second part is dedicated to one of MJPA’s most promising groups, the female quintet The Lazy Jones, who will participate in this edition with an instrumental format, temporarily renamed The Playing Jones. This special lineup will bring a unique ambiance, without losing the style of the five young women – named after the famous jazz theme “Have you met Miss Jones?” – with their repertoire of Bossa Nova classics and Bebop music.

The Macau Jazz Promotion Association (MJPA), co-organizer of Saturday Night Jazz with Rui Cunha Foundation since 2014, is a local non-profit local arts association, created in 2010. The aim of MJPA is to promote jazz music to Macau’s audience and to provide opportunities for local musicians, thus bringing out the multicultural characteristic of the territory and contributing to multiple projects aimed at the youth.
