The Rui Cunha Foundation launches on November 28th, next Thursday at 18:30, the “Recent Works of Nuno Santiago” Exhibition, with the painter’s presence in the territory, who is currently based in Portugal.

The set of 13 pieces to be displayed in the Gallery is part of the artist’s most recent creative work, executed in acrylic and mixed technique – acrylic and oil – in bold colors and materials that differ and contrast with the paintings brought by Nuno Santiago to Macau on March 2015 at Tap Seac Gallery.

Nuno Santiago lived and worked in Macao between 1987 and 1994, returning regularly to the territory to show his paintings. In his words, “the older pieces show an impressive local influence, as I made extensive use of Chinese rice paper”.

This expected return represents a continuous evolution, accompanied by a careful elaboration of the motives, where the painter maintains his own recognizable aesthetic and the abstraction that characterizes his work, without having a written message or titles, free to be perceived and felt with no underlying script.

‘In these latter works there is an intentional and perhaps not definitive departure from the more, so to speak, traditional ideas. Gestualism, pure colors and dynamics. As always, and in the spirit of true abstractionism, the works are devoid of title”, reveals the artist about the collection now arriving in Macao.

The exhibition will be open to the public until December 10, Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Saturdays from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Admission is free.
